Clive Davis…One of the best music men in the history of recorded music, sat down with CBS to speak about his decorated career in the music business. This man’s music resume is astonishing as it spans nearly half a century… He signed Janis Joplin in the 60s, made Barry Manilow a star in the 70s, discovered Whitney Houston in the 80s, engineered Santana’s comeback in the 90s and then broke Alicia Keys in 2000. Clive Davis inspires us here at TheOrganizedGrind every day. He’s truly a pioneer in the business as both a A&R and Exec. Salute to the GRIND!

This week, watch for Coldplay’s new album, “Mylo Xyloto,” to easily debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry sources suggest the set will sell at least 440,000 and 450,000 by Oct. 30.
The British band’s fifth studio set, which was released on Oct. 24, will mark its third No. 1 album, following 2005′s “X&Y” and 2008′s “Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends.” The latter started with 721,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. “X&Y” launched with 737,000.
If “Mylo” moves more than 440,000 copies, it will be the largest sales week for a rock album since U2′s “No Line On the Horizon” debuted at No. 1 with 484,000 on the chart dated March 21, 2009. Further, “Mylo” could post the third-largest sales frame of 2011, after Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” debut (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” start (964,000).
Coldplay is just one of a bevy of superstar acts that are looking to make a splashy bow on the Billboard 200 next week.
Tip has hit the ground running since coming home… Appearing on remixes from everything from “N*ggas in Paris” (Jay-Z/Janye), to “Spend it” (2Chainz), to “Magic” by ATL newcomer Fututre, as well as a surprise appearance on stage with Taylor Swift to perform “Live your Life” when her sold out tour made a stop in Atlanta at Phillips arena a few weeks ago. Now the A.T.Lien is back on his own GRIND, releasing another beastly record with hit-maker Pharrell (SK8BRD). Magna cum Laude rap at its finest right here. Tip doesn’t sound like he’s missed a beat.
Props to the homie DJ MLK. Salute from the GRIND.
