One of my favorite HBO show’s will be back soon, this fall to be exact. “Boardwalk Empire” has released its first Season 3 teaser, and Nucky Thompson is looking like he’s embracing being a ‘gangster’. In the black-and-white teaser, Atlantic City’s former treasurer smokes a cigarette while delivering a monologue that begins, “It’s a new year, new rules … let’s cut the bullshit.”
As images of his gangster friends and foes — Lucky Luciano, Arnold Rothstein and Chalky White — flash across the screen, Nucky lays out the new order of business for 1923. “I’ve got friends in politics, as a favor to them, I prefer to simplify things,” he says, before ordering a bullet put in someone’s head.
It seems like Nucky, vindicated in his corruption trial and from the burdens of public office, has finally morphed into the “gangster” that Jimmy Darmody advised him to become during Season 1. Unfortunately, Jimmy won’t be around to reap the benefits after his former mentor put an end to their relationship in the season 2′s finale. Literally.
I can’t wait for season 3.
The highlight of Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg’s historic performance at Coachella 2012 was the rumored and much talked about hologram appearance from Tupac Shakur. Fans in person and those streaming worldwide gasped and celebrated as the late legendary MC was brought to life for a brief moment in which the digital image performed “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikka’s Most Wanted” alongside Snoop Dogg. I’m still a little shook up by this, and I’m one of the biggest ‘Pac fans ever. Skip up to the 32 minute mark… and see for yourself. Shout out to Dre & Snoop though, these guys are so legendary, they have sooo many hits its riduculous.
Talk about poise and charisma… This lil guy is going to be a star. I need to make a trip to Memphis.
Details of the partnership have yet to be revealed, but Executive Vice President of Marketing at Iconix Brand Group Jameel Spencer explained how the pairing came about:
“Jay-Z has been a long-time fan of the Yankees, regularly attends games and has even included his favorite team in song lyrics, so this was a natural partnership. Rocawear, along with Jay-Z are very excited to be working with the Yankees for the 2012 season. We feel another championship in ‘12!”
Can’t say we didn’t see this coming.
I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook. For years, we’ve focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we’ll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests. We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram’s strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook. That’s why we’re committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people. We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook. These and many other features are important parts of the Instagram experience and we understand that. We will try to learn from Instagram’s experience to build similar features into our other products. At the same time, we will try to help Instagram continue to grow by using Facebook’s strong engineering team and infrastructure. This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time we’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don’t plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together. We’re looking forward to working with the Instagram team and to all of the great new experiences we’re going to be able to build together.
I stumbled across this video late saturday night surfing… Insomnia did me some good for a change. I was in tears laughing. LoL. Hopefully little man can hone that musical interest into something special in a few years. I didn’t even know what a keyboard was at 4, much less what a music producer was.
That guy Hov and the good folks at Rocawear put together a visually pleasing commercial in support of the upcoming Barclays stadium in Brooklyn. The soon to be home of the Nets, Jay will also be headlining a concert at the new venue in September. Hopefully they can hold onto Deron Williams this summer so some fans will show up for home games next season in that billion dollar arena.
Tip’s back in album mode… After dropping his F*ck the City Up mixtape earlier this year, the Grand Hustle general is now readying the release of his eight LP,Trouble Man, tentatively due out this summer. Tip says fans can expect the album’s next single, “Love This Life”—produced by Mars (of 1500 or Nothin)—to impact radio and itunes in the next few days.
“It’s speaking to woman, but from a man’s perspective,” Tip told XXLMag.com regarding the song’s concept. “People who find themselves in a situation where the woman might say she wants to part ways with the man, but the man [is] like, ‘Let’s be sensible about this. You gonna leave all this? And go where?’ That’s what he is sayin’, the gentleman is sayin’. — T.I. via XXL

MMG’s rookie of the year Meek Millie is back at it, as he releases the video to his street anthem, “Lean Wit It.” Expect this to appear on Meek’s Dreamchasers 2 and the Self Made Vol. 2 compilation album. Watch the DRE Films and Jon J-directed video above. Meeks debut should be one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2012. Look out for it this summer grinders!
